Our mowers use our proprietary Path IQ™ navigation system, combining RTK positioning with multiple vision technologies. Path IQ™ enables wire-free, centimetre-level accuracy, reliable operation in shaded or built-up areas where GPS alone can struggle, and intelligent slope handling that continuously adjusts speed and path trajectory for safety and cut quality.

Choose a model based on your total lawn size in m² (pick one rated above your actual area), also consider the steepest slope you need it to handle, and the complexity of your layout (narrow passages, multiple zones, obstacles). If in doubt, measure your lawn and compare to each model’s recommended coverage, or get advice from your local dealer.

RTK provides very precise positioning in open areas, while the on-board Vision system uses cameras and image processing to understand surroundings when satellite signals are weak or blocked. The mower fuses both data sources in real time to stay within virtual boundaries, follow efficient paths, and greatly reduce navigation errors even in challenging gardens.

No, the AURA-R2 with Path IQ™ uses virtual boundaries created in the app. You simply map the lawn once, define the mowing area and no-go zones on the map, and the mower follows these virtual limits without digging, burying, or maintaining physical wire. However, we do have boundary wire machines, the RM2000E and RM4000E, if that suits your preferences or garden better.

Yes, this is a key benefit of our hybrid navigation system, Path IQ™. In shaded areas or close to buildings where GPS signals are blocked causing RTK alone to lose accuracy, the Vision system helps maintain reliable positioning and heading, so the mower continues to mow consistently and reliably under trees, along walls, and in narrow side paths.

Intelligent slope handling uses tilt and traction sensors to constantly monitor the mower’s angle, trajectory and grip on inclines. The mower automatically adjusts wheel torque, speed, and mowing direction on slopes, allowing it to maintain efficient and accurate mowing on slopes up to 50% gradient.

Before buying, check your total lawn area in m², identify the steepest slope you expect the mower to manage, note any complex features such as ponds, play equipment and narrow passages, as you may need to allow extra capacity in your machine selection. Also confirm that you have suitable Wi-Fi or mobile signal across the lawn if you want full app control and remote notifications. If in doubt, seek advice from your local dealer who can help with a site survey and professional installation.

After installation of charging dock and antenna, you guide the mower around the lawn once using the app to create a virtual map, and define no-go zones for elements such as flower beds, vegetable patches or play areas. You can assign different mowing schedules and frequencies to each zone and adjust them at any time directly from the app. Speak to your local dealer who can support in all aspects of installation.

Using Path IQ™, the mower can follow pre set paths between up to 40 mowing zones, to travel efficiently from one mapped area to another, even through narrow passages or around buildings. You can priorities zones or set different mowing schedules for each zone, and the mower plans its routes and charging cycles accordingly.

Day-to-day control is handled through our mobile app, EGO Connect, where you can start or stop mowing, change working schedules, edit zones and set mowing preferences including cut height and mowing direction, and control all other features and functions of the machine. The app sends notifications if the mower is stuck or needs attention and shows its current status and recent activity, so you can manage the lawn from anywhere with network access. The EGO Connect app requires an operating system of Android OS 6.0 or IOS 12.2 or newer.

Robotic mowers are designed to maintain grass length on a lawn, so they will operate more frequently than you would mow with a standard lawn mower. For optimum performance it would be recommended for the robotic mower to complete 2-3 complete coverage cycles per week. As a guide, for the RMR1500, and RMR3000, we would recommend to start by allowing 1hr weekly operation for every 50m² spread as evenly across the week as you can allow, for RMR6000 allow 1hr operation for every 65m². If after 2-3 complete cycles, there are coverage issues or the machine is not keeping up with the regrowth, you can increase scheduled running hours.

Routine maintenance includes replacing blades (every 6-12 weeks dependent on wear), cleaning excessive grass from wheels and the underside of the chassis and keeping sensors and cameras clean, which is easy thanks to AURA-R2's IP66 rating, which means you can wash off with a garden hose or even a pressure washer. Prompt installation of app or firmware updates will allow you to benefit from ongoing navigation and safety improvements. In winter, we recommend cleaning the mower and storing it indoors, or in your shed or garage, for some regions that may involve keeping the battery in a dry, frost-free place. It is recommended to have an annual service check by an EGO dealer to ensure the mower can continually operate to its high standards.

The mower includes lift and tilt sensors that stop the blades quickly if it is picked up or tipped, collision sensors that slow and redirect the machine when it meets an obstacle, Path IQ™ navigation, allowing it to avoid objects left on the lawn. PIN protection prevents unauthorised use. We still recommend only mowing when children and pets in the work area are supervised and keeping small items off the lawn.

Each mower comes with a factory warranty, of 2 years for the battery and 3 years for the machine, covering manufacturing defects, plus access to authorised service partners for repairs and annual servicing. Software and navigation updates are provided to keep performance improving over time, and we recommend registering your product after purchase to activate warranty, access support resources and receive important update notifications.

Yes, our virtual boundary utilising Path IQ™ system allows you to make changes easily. If you add or move flower beds, patios, play areas or paths, you simply update the map, using mowers in app remote control functionality to redraw the mowing area boundary or define new no-go zones. The mower immediately adapts its routes and continues to use precise navigation and intelligent slope handling without any need to move physical wire.

All EGO Robotic Mowers include built-in theft protection features such as GPS tracking, geofencing alerts, a PIN code, and an alarm on the mower that sounds when it is taken out of the working area. App-based notifications immediately alert the user to any suspected interference.

Path IQ™ lets AURA-R2 mow in clean, efficient parallel lines. This results in faster coverage, less wear on the grass, and longer battery life compared with old-style random-pattern mowers. It ensures the area is cut in the most efficient way.

Yes, the mower can operate at night. The mower's navigation system still works with small fill lights on the front of the mower to illuminate the area ahead. This allows the vision to continue working effectively and safely through the night.

AURA-R2 allows control of a machine to be shared with other people via the EGO Connect app, using their login email address. Shared users have all the same abilities as the main user. Shared users can: start, pause, or stop mowing; view mower location and status; change mowing schedules and cut heights; receive alerts/ error notifications; set boundaries; complete firmware updates. However, the admin retains full control of who has access to the mower and key security features. If the mower is removed from the admin's account, it is removed from all shared accounts as well.
